It all started when our Harvest Pointe ROMEO (Real Ole Men Eating Out) foodies organized by Dennis and Vinny visited Windamere Restaurant located at the Strong’s Marina & Water Club in Mattituck on the North Fork in Long Island’s Wine Country.
I was really taken back by the beautiful setting (on the water since it sits on the property of a marina) and ‘nautical atmosphere’. The staff is friendly and the outdoor environment is totally relaxing.
Let me again emphasize that when I write about food in restaurants, its about what I enjoyed as we all have our own opinions of what is good based on our own taste.
So this week, with the beautiful weather and with family coming to visit, we decided to make a reservation for lunch and take advantage of the Windamere Lobster Roll special for the crazy price of $19.95 from 11 am to 3 pm every day. Yup…$19.95. It turned out to be as good as I remember it to be and I’m officially recommending it.
Shhhhh…between us…but if I sold an order of French fries for $12.00 and a slice of cheesecake for $14,00, it’s not a surprise anymore how the lobster roll is $19.95. This is simply an observation on my part and taking nothing away from what were fabulous crispy French fries and a wonderful New York style slice of cheesecake.
One thing I may have to do on my next visit (yes, we will be going back) is to try the warm version of the lobster roll. If anyone out there has a recommendation for other dishes they serve…let me know.
